3. Material Difference: SMS Non-woven Fabric

SMS is short for Spunbond-Meltblown-Spunbond three-layer polypropylene nonwoven, the industry standard material for disposable surgical gowns.

Spunbond layer (S): inner and outer layers, thicker fibers with great toughness, tear resistance and soft touch.

Meltblown layer (M): middle ultra-fine fiber layer with dense pores, core barrier to block blood, body fluid splash and bacterial particles.

GSM Difference: 30gsm fabric is lightweight for basic isolation and low-risk nursing. 35–40gsm balances breathability and protection, best for clinics and general surgery. 45gsm heavy-duty SMS has stronger tear resistance, commonly used for high-splash surgery and matched with reinforced panels.

Simple single-layer PP spunbond fabric can only block dust without liquid resistance, which cannot be used as surgical gown material. AVACARE adopts 3-layer SMS composite. Reinforced gown adds laminated film on chest and forearm to raise hydrostatic pressure performance, suitable for AAMI Level 2 ~ Level3.

Q1: What is the structure of the 4-tie surgical gown? A: The 4 ties include 2 neck ties + 2 waist ties made of nonwoven fabric, tied on the back. No hook-and-loop closure. It is the traditional sterile OR surgical gown design, stable and easy for assistant to help wear.

Q2: What is the difference between reinforced version and standard version? A: Reinforced gown adds extra barrier panels on chest and forearm, stronger liquid resistance for heavy bleeding or fluid splashing surgery. Standard gown has no reinforcement panel, lighter weight and lower cost, suitable for general clinic and low-risk procedures.

Q3: Can we get EO sterile packaging? A: Yes, EO ethylene oxide sterilized individual paper-plastic pouch package is available for OR usage. Non-sterile version is optional as well.

Q4: What is the MOQ for OEM private label? A: MOQ is 2000pcs. We can print your own brand logo and product info, also support ODM new pattern development.
